The School for Good and Evil
Our team was approached by the set decorator Francisco Chamorro working on the Netflix movie called ‘The School for Good and Evil’ with the inquiry for custom chandeliers that would decorate the ‘evil’ premises of the magical school.
Along with Francisco and the team working on the movie, we decided that the design of the chandeliers would be based on the popular and evergreen Maria Theresa collection with a rich history that would fit the needs of the brief perfectly.
But while beautiful on its own, the Maria Theresa collection would be better suited for the ‘good’ part of the school rather than the ‘evil’ part…
Maria Theresa chandeliers today are a household name. The exquisite style and shape of these chandeliers can be found in royal palaces around the world and the popularity of the Maria Theresa chandeliers is ever-present.
We manufacture the Maria Theresa chandeliers in a traditional way connecting two pieces of glass with decorative flowers and in this way creating the arms of the chandeliers. This is a traditional way of doing things and draws from the times of the inception of these chandeliers when the glassmakers did not yet know how to create hollow arms.

Bespoke production:
As a manufacturer, we are not limited by our standard production. If you like the design of one of our lightings but you need to adjust the size, the number of bulbs, colours, or completely change some parts of the lighting, we can customise it just for you.
For this reason, we knew we needed to add the ‘evil’ look to the Maria Theresa chandeliers. In the past, we had manufactured chandeliers with hand-blown glass icicles, so offered to use the icicles on the chandeliers instead of the strings of crystals.
The movie production team liked the idea of using the icicles on the evil chandeliers and thus went to work to finalize the design brief for the smaller chandeliers and the large chandelier required.
Next came the finalizing of the colors and the metal finishes to ensure that the chandeliers have the right ‘evil’ vibe. We prepared and sent over the samples of the metal parts, the candle sleeves, as well as the hand-blown crystal parts.
When all was approved, our team got to work again to manufacture and assemble the chandeliers in our factory.
When the chandeliers were completed and approved, we packed them and sent them to the film production crew, and waited for the movie to be released. Before that happened, the film production team sent us a photo of one of the chandeliers from the actual set, saying they loved the way the chandeliers turned out.
Afterward, all we could do was wait for the movie’s release. That happened on the 19th of October 2022 on Netflix and you can see stills from the movie with our ‘evil’ chandeliers below.
